Trichloroethylene, also known as TCE, Ethylene Trichloride, or Trichloroethene is a halocarbon with the formula C2HCl3. Trichloroethylene is a synthetic, light sensitive, volatile, colorless, liquid that is miscible with many non-polar organic solvents. The main use of trichloroethylene is in the vapor degreasing of metal parts. Trichloroethylene is used in consumer products such as typewriter correction fluids, paint removers/strippers, adhesives, spot removers, inks, and rug-cleaning fluids.
